April Anomalies A-Z: Pythonic Spirit

And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain girl, having a pythonical spirit, met us, who brought to her masters much gain by divining. Acts 16: 16

She inhales the rising fumes, noxious as they are, and swoons, falling softly onto the couch prepared for her.  Her body convulses; violent spasms wrack her small frame and she is flung to the floor where she writhes like a gross parody of a snake.  Suddenly the contortions are over and she is still.

She speaks:

The flight of birds, the whispering trees, another will come.
Anxious generals should not sneer at windmills. Let the owls be your shields.
Bagabi laca bachabe. Lamac cahi achababe.  Karrelyos.

To enter the multiplied thunders you must answer the hunger.
The gibbet is not yet yours.
Lamac lamec bachalyyas. Cabahagy sabalyos. Baryolas.

Recite the numbers of pi to the thousandth decibel.
The old man with the lantern and staff will bless the lovers.
Lagoz atha cabyolas.  Samahec et famyolas.  Harrahya.

And then she is silent.  For a moment you fear that she might be dead, but you notice the slight movement of her chest as she breathes.  Her controllers lift her gently to the couch and cover her with sheets before they speak:

Now Good Sirs and Mesdames, we can interpret the oracles words for you, for a small fee…

This is part of April Anomalies A-Z, a creative writing exercise and not intended to be an altogether accurate picture of the creature described above.
